District I includes the whole of the Castle Hill with the one of most well known attractions in Budapest like the Buda Castle Royal Palace, the Fisherman’s Bastion, Matthias Church, the 19th century authentic little Ruszwurm Confectionery, the Hospital in the Rock Museum (and nuclear bunker), and a whole range of museums in the various buildings of the Buda Castle like the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum.

The most important Budapest attractions in District I are in and around the Castle District (Varnegyed) on top of the green and romantic Castle Hill (Varhegy) which can be easily reached with bus number 16 from Deak Square, or taking the short but fun Funicular Railway (a 19th century cable car) from the edge of the Chain Bridge on the Buda side.
